A near catastrophe is over for a 6-week-old kitten.
The pint-sized orange tabby cat was discovered by Wareham, Massachusetts resident Myra Amado after she heard crying sounds coming from her back yard.
The kitten, named Piper by rescuers, was discovered wedged inside a section of T-shaped PVC pipe with only its head exposed to the air.
All it required to be set free was some finesse and a dollop of vegetable oil.
Rescuers have transported Piper to A Helping Paw, a local animal shelter.
Piper is recovering from dehydration and a broken paw, but is expected to be fine.
